After years of working with Solaris and storage, I've never found a good use of the iostat -E option, and this is no exception. :-)

The message is retryable, so there was no actual IO failure, although special attention should be paid to the ASC/ASCQ

codes thrown by the "raid:" process. In your case:

ASC=A6 ASCQ=00

Off the top of my head, I can't remember what this code is, but if you open a RAID Manager GUI window and go into Maintenance and Tuning, you'll be able to look at the error logs. You can get help on this entry in particular.

Another way to find out what happened is to look up the entry

A6 00 in the /usr/lib/osa/raidcode.txt file.
