Storedge L7 setup

I'm trying to get a Storedge L7 configured on my E4500. I have an existing DLT-7000, and this L7. When I let Netbackup scan for devices, it finds a robot ADIC Faststor DLT 0119, which I assume is the L7, and the DLT-7000, which Netbackup shows under the robot, not as a standalone drive. Shouldn't the DLT-7000 show up as standalone? Should the tape drive in the L7 ( as opposed to the robotic drive) show up as a separate device? I guess I expected to see the L7 tape drive show up underneath the robot, and teh DLT-7000 show up as standalone. Which should it be?

Thanks,

Harry

Hi Harry!

I'm not sure what you're seeing, but it would be useful if you posted the output of /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/sgscan as a reference point. The L7 will have a DLT8000 in the unit along with the robotics. So perhaps, you are not seeing the DLT8000 in your L7, but are seeing the DLT7000 you have as a standalone?

which brings me to the next part. If sgscan doesn't see 2 tape drives and a robot, and you have less than two lines from the output of:

ls -l /dev/rmt | grep cbn

Then the st driver is not attaching to the DLT8000, and you should really check your st driver patch revision for your OS.

good luck!
