Moving drives between a3510s

We've recently purchased a new 3510 for use in a VCS cluster for our staging environment to drill configuration changes before applying them to our production system.

I've taken 2 new 140gb drives and placed them in the 3510 to practice creating LDs, LVs, partitions and mapping them to the different hosts. The testing is complete and the drives are now needed in production.

My question is whether I need to do some low-level format of these drives in order to keep them from messing up the configuration in production. If so, how?

Having worked with A1000s in the past I remember a painful situation involving DacStors on drives and conflicting configuration information when moving between A1000s. Eventually we had to replace the drives with "fresh" ones from support so that the target array would initialize them and not try to incorporate their configuration info.

Has anyone seen similar behavior in the 3510? Is there a way to work around it? I didn't see this issue specifically addressed in the documentation (but I'm still looking).

are yes good old A1000`s and dac stores.

good fun

Well as long as you remove and volumes on the disks so they dont appear in the config on the development array then you should be ok.

It may winge that the disks are from another array but as soon as you make a volume on the disks that should be removed and updated for the new info.
