Problems with StoreEdge 3310
I am at my wit's end with this problem.
Our company just completed an upgrade in that we added an extra 3310 to 2 database servers. They are both v480s with StorEdge 3310s connected to a SCSI-3 controller (the one with the qus). The operating system is Solaris 8.
Here's the problem: We added an extra 3310 to each dbase server, with each 3310 unit taking its own controller port. When we did a boot -r, one server came up fine and saw the new disks, while the other one did not see it.Not only that, but it did not see the old disk array either.
We checked the sd.conf, added some new targets and LUNs and rebooted. We managed to see the new disk array, but still no old disk array. We uninstalled and reinstalled the qus driver, with both 32 and 64-bit drivers. No luck.
We created a brand-new sd.conf with possibly the longest set of LUNs and targets ever. Nothing.
probe-scsi-all sees the drives with no problem.
We noticed one message during bootup:
Command not Completed: Potential data path failure: resp->resp_reason = 0x1d: pkt->pkt_state = 0x7: pkt->pkt_reason = 0x3: tgt = 0
That looks like the qus driver is having problems with even passing a command. We changed the cables and even swapped out the backplanes on the 3310s. No luck.
We even went as far as upgrading the operating system to Solaris 9. No luck.Installed 9_Recommended. No luck.
cfgadm -al does not see the drives.
I don't think the hardware is bad, since probe-scsi-all at the OpenBoot prompt sees the drives.
Any help at all would be appreciated. I have hammered at this for nearly 14 hours now.
