Compatibility between D1000 and Ultra 60
I want to connect StorEdge D1000 to Ultra 60, following is the SCSI host adapter and SCSI cable information.
SCSI Host Adapter:
PCI to dual differential UltraSCSI adapter, Model X6541A
Manufacturing part number: 375-0006
Description: Dual Differential Ultra/Wide SCSI (UDWIS/P)(HVD)
SCSI Cable:
Option #: X3830A
Manufacturing Part #: 530-2454
Description: External SCSI Cable, HD68 to VHDC, 4M
But I know there two part # for SCSI cable 530-2454, one is 530-2454-01, another one is 530-2454-02, which one should I use? Where can I find the compatibility information for this?
Many thanks

you only need to post your question in one section... this is all hardware....
one way around the subscription problems that Sun has thrown up against us all... <a href="http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/3310/components.html" target="_blank"> http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/3310/components .html</a>
will show you your cable, along with all the other cables that Sun has made for JBODs, Arrays and such...
this a help? I know that I had thought that a regular scsi cable was different than a differential scsi cable.... other than length (I guess diff cables can be longer) either should work... but at least you will get some answers...

The additional -01 and -02 are revisions of the cable, perhaps an improvement of quality of the cable or a revision in manufacturing.

The contract version of the handbook has a part number breakdown section.

Following information are what seller told me.
The 68-pin VHDCI connector on Cables 530-2454-01 is centered in the housing.
The 68-pin VHDCI connector on Cables 530-2454-02 is offset in the housing.
But which one can be used to connect the X6541A host adapter? I am still confused, I never see the X6541A and the two cables.
Thanks

Use the IMAGES search function in Google, using keyword -- x6541a
You'll find many examples of the SCSI card.
As Martin noted, the `dash-01` and the `dash-02` notations are for minor manufacturing differences.Sometimes the difference could be something like a different OEM manufacturer was sourced to supply the part, or something as easy-to-miss as a different color of the outside plastic. That would be a change, therefore a version is updated.
530-2454 is 530-2454 is 530-2454
They're all identical, electronically.
How about this:tell the seller to send you both cables and you'll return the one that you do not need.
