Veritas and L25 Problem
Hi all,
Installed Veritas Enterprise Server 5.1
I have an L25 with a Seagate LTO Ultrium drive installed.
The L25 is in M4 mode
It's installed in a V880 running Solaris 9
The L25 robot seems to be functioning properly. I can move a tape from one slot to another with no problems.
I cannot, however, move a tape from a slot to the drive. I get this:

I have double checked my st and sg configurations. I see the driver loading for the Seagate drive in dmesg.
What could be going wrong here? I also checked my patch level for st and it's the latest.

Just a few questions:
1. What have you tried so far?
2. Do you know what the L25's firmware version is or if it has been upgraded?
3. Are you able to load a tape manually?

What haven't I tried :) Lets see, reinstalled the st and sg drivers. Checked patch levels for the OS,
I just upgrade with the latest patch to Veritas.
I'm looking at your suggested doc site but I have the PDF's for most if not all of this stuff and I've gone through the setup a couple of times.
I just went into the GUI and removed the drive and loader and used the Getting Started wizard to re-add them -- thinking that I might have done something wrong.
No change -- I'm still getting the Move_medium failed -- unknown error.
I was able to manually load a tape in the autoloader as well. Unkown waht hte firmware is -- this unit is brand new.

If you are able to manually load a tape in the autoloader, it is more likely to be a setup issue with the software, sorry you probably already know that. At least that is a little encouraging.
With the unit being brand new, and assuming that the software came as part of that package (if not ignore the rest of this), you should be able to log a software support call with sun and or veritas.
I cant say that I have had much time to play with Veritas Enterprise Server 5.1 unless some of the other guys here have? either way it might be the most timely soute for you.
