SO7r5: Not getting clean load of styles into master doc.

Hi,

I'm trying the master document capability for the 1st time and the results are not as expected. I first created subdocuments that save the page and paragraph layout that I want. Then, I open a new master document, insert the files, and load the styles from the subdocs, with the following load settings:

[] Text [x] Frame [x] Pages [x] Numbering [x] Overwite

Some of the styles seem to overwrite...paragraphs but, others do not?

The attached tar file contains an example of what happens when only the title page subdoc is inserted into the master doc...followed by a loading of the styles from the subdoc. The page style in the title page subdoc is FirstPage. When the subdoc is inserted, the initial page style assigned is Default. After the subdoc styles are loaded, the page style is set to one I defined for the second subdoc file...FrontPiece. I put the FrontPiece style in the title subdoc since it is the page style used for the next subdoc.

I haven't seen many questions on the forum on this subject so, I'm expecting that I'm missing part of the procedure for creating a master document. But, any insight on what is wrong would be appreciated.

Many Thanks, planetfarer

There is a lot of information on use of the Master Doc at www.oooAuthors.org and page styles is one of the toughest of the issues.

The only person I remember tackling that issue is ftack at www.oooforum.org so use the advanced Search facility there to search all words "page style master" with ftack as the author.

ftack has the best understanding of OOo styles of any user I know. If he says it's so then you can pretty much take it to the bank.
