SO 8 insertin Blank Page

Hi,

I have StarOffice 8 on my Windows XP Home SP2 PC.

I am trying to write a document with preliminary pages numbered with Roman Numerals, and the main document with normal Numbers starting from 1. I also want the title page to show the total number of pages, including preliminaries.

So, Preliminary pages in "Prelim" Style, with roman Numerals. Fine.

Put in a manual Brake, Next style "Default", restart Numbering from 1. This restarts the numbering ok, and it numbers in standard numbers.

However, in Print preview, there is a Blank Page (Clearly marked BLANK PAGE) between the two Page styles which isn't visible when editing. This is not a big deal in itself, but this blank page is counted in the PageCount field for my total number of pages.

Has anyone else come across this, and is there a way around it? (except counting the pages myself and typing in the number)

Thanks,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

it's not a bug, it's a feature ;-)

StarOffice assumes that you have got a duplex printer, so it forces every odd page number to be on an odd page - to achieve this it inserts blank pages where needed.

There's a workaournd with two different styles following each other, one for right-site-only and one for left-site-only.

As I only have a german copy of StarWriter I can't tell you the exact names of the GUI labels. If you understand german you can have a look here:
