Printing very small

Hi,

I am using a Pentium 4 with XP Home PC and have been for many years a MS Office user. In Word I can use a blank page and produce a letter and have it printed on my HP PhotoSmart 7550 printer and its produced as it is on the screen.

Having recently migrated to SO 7 (3) and producing a non pre-formatted document in Writer and printing it, I obtain a miniscule print at the top left hand of the page (about a quarter of the normal size). If I have a multiple page doc it will print all of this on one page.

However, If I produce a document using a Writer pre-formatted document, it sometimes prints as usual (such as a mail merge doc) but single page docs print small even if they originate as a Word doc printing normally under MS Word.

I have looked at 'Options and Configuration' choices but cannot find a solution to overcome this issue. I have downloaded the PDF manual but no obvious solution is identified. I have looked at the 'Forums' and no good!

Please advise what my problem is?

Is it possible that you are printing from Page Preview which will allow you to print multiple pages on one sheet?

Hi

Thanks for thinking along these lines but no is the answer. I found that printing from the preview screen would give this effect earlier on.

If I choose file / print or use the print icon in the normal Writer page it just prints small.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Some how the printer is receiving instruction to print in this way but the print options dont appear to offer a solution. I have tried defaulting the settings but this has had no effect.

I am having the same trouble with OpenOffice.org Writer. I have found a work-around, but it has to be done with each new document.

Go to FILE, then PAGE PREVIEW. In Page Preview screen click on the PRINT OPTIONS PAGE VIEW icon, then change to 1 row and 1 column, click OK, then click the PRINT PAGE VIEW icon. Print your document. Click CLOSE PREVIEW.

I hope this helps. I would really like that to be my default, but I don't know how to fix it.
