Most recently used documents

How do I delete the MRU files within StarOffice 6.0? Is there a way to configure the program so that a file's location and file is not displayed under the "Files" menu?

Hi

The history of loaded URLs (ie the most recently used documents) are saved in the file "Common.xml". This file can be found in the directory:

" \StarOffice6.0\user\config\registry\instance\org\openoffice\ Office\ "

To delete these entries, load the file in a text editor and find the "<History>" entry. Delete all lines in the file up to the entry "</History>" (i.e., all entries between "<History>" and "</History>").

This will also delete all entries in the URL history as well as all entries in the picklist (the list of the most recently used files found in the File menu).

Important:

This procedure involves manual intervention to the configuration of StarOffice. It can occur that if the wrong entries are deleted, StarOffice will no longer be able to function correctly. Please remember that all manual intervention to the configuration files is the sole responsibility of the user. In this particular case, any mishaps that may result to the program cannot be supported or guaranteed.

If the above does not work, please let us know. Thanks!

Dear,

thank you very much for the response.

Unfortunately, when deleting the 'history' in the common.xml file, a history is created automatically as soon as I save documents again.

Is there any way to disable permanently the appearance of 'most recently used documents'?

Thanks again for the response!

Hi again

Unfortunately, StarOffice does not provide a setting via the User Interface. Therefore you have to manipulate this function manually every time you want to delete the URLs. (Please bear in mind that if wrong entries are deleted by accident, StarOffice will not function correctly).

However, we will forward your enquiry to our Development and Quality & Assurance teams for a possible feature enhancement in one of the future StarOffice versions.

Thank you very much!

You could remove the history items from the file then change permissions on the file so the user only has read access to the file and can't add entries in future.

What & where, though, is the equivalent for Editions 7 and 8 ?!

Again, can the effect be turned off in these...?
