problem with MS office..

I have a problem, let me describe it as close as i can.
I am in need of using a document archive with the help of Internet Explorer. There they have word and excel files i need to use. These documents are displayed inline in internet explorer whenever i click on a document.
With my new computer staroffice was preinstalled from the manufacturer and i have uninstalled it, after that i installed Ms office and the documents can't open inline in IE.
I have tried to run each office application with /regsrv32 but that doesn't help. How do i completely erase every sign of StarOffice without reinstalling my computer? It seems like the file-extension mapping is somewhat still there in my computer?! Have StarOffice messed things up so it is impossible to erase every sign of it? It didn't work with staroffice either therefore i have to use Ms Office.
