Star Office 8 Product Update 2 - not installing

hello,

on sparc solaris9 i try to installing the update 2 :

patchadd /download/120185-03

Checking installed patches...

Verifying sufficient filesystem capacity (dry run method)...

Patch 120185-03 failed to install due to a failure produced by pkgadd.

See /var/sadm/patch/120185-03/log for details

Patchadd is terminating.

This appears to be an attempt to install the same architecture and

version of a package which is already installed. This installation

will attempt to overwrite this package.

Try patchadd -d /download/120185-03That is what works with Solaris 10 x86 for me, i.e. I have to use -d and include the full path to the patch even if I issue the patchadd command in the patch directory.

I'm having the exact same problem, with just one difference. I'm trying ot upgrade from SO8U3 to U4. Same error. Using "-d" plus the full path makes no difference. Any other ideas?

Solved!Installing the patch from a directory within /tmp worked... I read somewhere that the patch scripts su to "nobody" during the process. If "nobody" can't see the directory, the install will fail!
