Address/Label
As things stand, getting StarOffice to print labels is like going to the dentist for a root canal without benefit of any deadening agent. It can be done, but it is painful. This is inexcusable for an 8th generation product.
We need a SIMPLE template driven ability to print labels and addresses from databases. As it stands this VERY POORLY designed aspect of StarOffice is such a serious flaw so as to remove it from consideration as a primary Office Suite.
Added to that is the lack of being able to print more than one page of labels at a time, when you finally do get the form setupl.

This point seems to tie in with mine about merge recipients.
Seems that StarOffice needs to urgently sort the Mail Merge / Label / Writer / database functionality.
These sort of functions are vital in daily business.
Once this is sorted StarOffice will be a much more serious Office package.
Thanks in anticipation of the improvement.

You are both right in a way. The Help files concerning printing labels should be burned because they make something that is actually very simple very hard.
Here is the simple way to do it that assumes only that you have a registered data source for your address records. If it is registered then you will be able to find it when you proceed to the next sentence.
Open the label wizard (File > New > Labels), leave the Address box unchecked, and select the Database and Table holding your records. Select the fields one at a time and move to the left using the arrow. Some simple editing can be done in the left window such as spacing and new lines.
The bullet should normally be in Sheet. Select the appropriate Brand and label Type.
Go to the Option tab where normally you want the bullet in Entire Page. Uncheck Synchronize unless you specifically want to edit the FORMAT of the upper left label after you click New Document in which case you click the Synchronize button to pass the format changes to all other labels.
Click New Document. Unless you want to change the format of the upper left label as indicated above you must now forget everything you think you know about what to do next.
What you should do next is click the Print icon and answer "yes" to the "form letter" question. A dialog will appear where you can choose to print all records or you can select the ones you want with the gray buttons to their left (don't try to force the bullet into Select Records, just select them).
Save your label template if you want to use it again. It will work fine with different selected records.
Please note that up until now I have not mentioned the F4 data source viewer. You do not use it but if you do and then answer "no" to the "form letter" question you will get 1page of labels.
If you end up with partially used sheets of labels and would like to use them up try this macro on that saved label template or a new one. This one clears the fields from all labels that have been used and then you click Print and proceed as above selecting no more records than available on the sheet. Here you could use F4, select records, click Data to Fields to fill them, then print and answer "no".
