Hi,
I hope the tips following will help :)
Many difficulties such as zero output, installation problems, crashing and display issues are caused by the printer driver, graphics driver or a combination of both with StarOffice.
In order to help correct various kinds of printing and display issues, please consider the following:
1. Make sure that your system has been assigned a system standard printer. This must be a
"normal" printer driver and not a fax driver or Windows Printing System for example.
2. Check if you are using the latest driver for your printer and graphic card. If this
driver is the cause for the difficulties, reinstall your previous driver. It will also hlp to download the latest printer driver from the manufacturor, then install it and reboot your system.Make sure that when adding a printer driver to StarOffice, go to the "spadmin" utility and under the "Choose a Driver" screen, click on [Import] to find the PPD file that you downloaded. This will load it into StarOffice so you can use the driver.
3. If you are using a 'dongle' on your printer interface (or a switchbox), please connect your printer directly on the parallel printer interface (for test purposes only) to
rule out any influence by this hardware.
4. Check your printer hardware (and cabling), just to make sure that the hardware is running optimally. Most printer hardware is equipped with an auto-test function (see your printer handbook). By testing your hardware, you can rule out any problem stemming from a cartridge, adapter, or button, for example.
5. It may be sufficient to simply change the parameters in the driver configuration,
(i.e., changing the dpi value from 720/600 to 300 dpi) or deactivating special
functions (i.e., deactivating the graphic driver's acceleration function, changing the
color resolution, using a "simple" printer driver instead of a complex "printing
system").
6. If the problem only occurs with one certain document, copy and paste the contents into
a new document. If problems still occur, please check the contents of this file. In
rare cases, text may be interpreted as control commands. Delete these passages, if this happens to be the case.
7. If you are using additional programs or tools (e.g., special spool programs, etc.),
please deactivate these to rule out any interference from these programs.
8. If the problem only occurs when using a certain font, please change the font (OS/2:
e.g., use a PostScript-Font instead of a TrueType-Font). By doing so, you exclude the
possibility of a corrupted font being at fault. If you have problems with special
characters, please do not use any fonts which are recognized only internally by the
printer or which do not exist as screen font. Use the true type fonts included with
your operating system, and print these as graphics (can be modified in the printer
driver settings).
9. Check if the problem occurs while using a driver/graphic card compatible with your
operating system. These drivers may not support all functions, nevertheless, they
deliver in most cases the desired results.
10. To exclude a problem with your graphic card driver, use one of the default graphic
drivers (VGA, SVGA). This is not a solution, but helps to locate the problem:
If this problem no longer occurs, the last graphic card driver is most likely the
reason. If using Windows, and StarOffice works fine in Safe Mode, this is a strong indication that there is an incompatibility with the graphics driver.
11. If you print on a network printer, check if all network printer configurations are
set, and that no special commands are included in the print queue. The print job
should run clearly.
These steps will lead in most cases to the solution or at least to the cause of the problem.

I get an HP PSC 750 also. I install it on a Ultra 10, using a Adaptec USB PCI card. It appears to Soalris 10 as /dev/printers/0. I configure it as follows:
Printer name: P750
Port device: /dev/printers/0
Printer type: PS
File content type: postscript
# chown lp /dev/printers/0
# chmod 600 /dev/printers/0
# lpadmin -p P750 -v /dev/printers/0
# lpadmin -p P70 -T PS
# lpadmin -p P750 -I postscript,any
# accept P750
destination P750now accepting requests
# enable P750
printer P750now enabled
# lpadmin -p P750 -D "HP PSC 750"
# lpstat -p P750
printer P750 is idle. enabled since Jul 12 11:17 2001. available.
But everytime I send something to print nothing happens.
Can someone told me what I need to do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Blastar,
StarOffice[TM] only offers direct support for PostScript printers on Unix operating systems like Solaris and Linux. It automatically provides a printer with the default driver for each system queue. The StarOffice[TM] printer administration program (spadmin) is provided to help to set up printers, faxes and fonts for use with StarOffice[TM]. Start the "spadmin" tool as follows:
1. Open a terminal window:
A) If the GNOME desktop is used:
- Click the right mouse button on an empty area of the desktop.
- In the new window choose "New Terminal".
B) If the CDE desktop is used:
- Click the right mouse button on an empty area of the desktop.
- In the following context menu choose "Tools - Terminal".
1. Start the "spadmin" tool from the current StarOffice[TM] installation with the following command. Example:
$HOME/staroffice7/spadmin
(the path can differ to the local system environment)
The "spadmin" program window will appear to enter all settings.
4. Click [New Printer].
5. Select the "Add a Printer" option and click [Next].
6. Select the appropriate driver for the printer. If not using a PostScript printer or the model is not listed, use the "Generic Printer" driver. It is also possible to add new drivers by selecting [Import] or delete unnecessary drivers with [Delete]. Afterwards click [Next].
7. Choose a command line to print on the desired printer (for example, lp -d my_queue). Click [Next].
Please see the operating system's documentation for more details on this subject.
8. Enter a name for the printer and determine whether it should become the default printer.
9. Finally click [Finish].
10. To print a test page, select [Test Page].
The new printer is now ready to use in StarOffice[TM].
For further information about setting up and modifying the printer configuration, fax and fonts, please refer to the Setup Guide (setup.pdf) on the StarOffice CD.
