How to backup an adabas database?
I am using SO 5.2 and have generated two large adabas databases.
After problems with my harddrive I have to move the databases to my new harddrive. When I use the context menu in the table view to generate a backup it either tells me, that it's limited to 40 characters or nothing happens at all. Does anyone know how to transfer my databases to my new harddisk?

Hi,
You can create a new Adabas Database from a backup file. A backup file of your database can be made in the context menu of the table container. In the context menu, you will find the command "Create Backup". This command will save your whole database, including all tables, etc., in a single file.
You can create a new Adabas Database from a backup file by opening the context menu in the Explorer and selecting the commands "New - Database". The dialog "Properties of <Database>" will be then displayed.
Select the "Type" tab page and make sure that "Adabas" has been selected under "Database type". Enter a name for the new file under "Data source" and click the "Create backup" button. You will see the "Create New Adabas Database" dialog where you will find two new controls: A "Backup file" text box and a button next to it which opens a File Selection dialog. Select the backup file here.
Finally, you should enter the names and passwords for the administrator and control user on the tab pages "Adabas D" and "Server Administration" in the "Properties of <Database>" dialog.

Hi,
I know that it should be possible to create a backup from the context menu. But unfortunately it doesn't work, means no backup is creatated and I have no idea why.
So I'm looking for a work around. For example: which files do I have to copy from which source directories into which target directories in order to bring my Adabas database to my new harddisk.
I also would like to know, how to copy the forms, reports and queries to my new harddisk.
Best regards
