Autoboot on Solaris

Hi,

I have installed SOLARIS on SUN Fire Server. I have some problems with electric current and when I have a cut off I must initiate SUN manually.

I have modified the variables:

auto-boot?=true

boot-command=boot

but without results.

Somebody knows as I can make this?

Thanks a lot

You posted your question onto the Solaris on x86 forum. What is the actual computer model of your system?

It's a Sun Fire V240.

Therefore you do not have a system based on x86 architecture. (a PC)

You have a SPARC system.

... wrong forum.

Anyhow...

Your computer may possibly be behaving exactly as designed.

You can think of it as sensing a serious issue, so it therefore will not boot without some sort of manual intervention.

It is trying to protect its own hardware and protect all your data.

It is trying to tell you that you need to fix the electrical source issue,

perhaps by using an Uninterruptible Power Source (UPS).

In the mean time, there may be one more OBP setting you can investigate.

Beginning with OBP version 4.x, there is a setting called

error-reset-recovery

Search the Hardware Forums, using that as your search word.

It has been discussed over there.

If your site is known to have electrical problems, you may be voiding your warranty and service contract when you choose to NOT use additional equipment to protect your computer.
