Lost networking on solaris reinstall?

We just got a new Ultra 20 from Sun and after we applied all the patches the disk broke. So we had to reinstall solaris 10 x86 from the CD. Now that we've done that we seem to have lost the ability to do networking. It's a standard Ultra 20 with no interface cards - just the onboard NIC. We've tried the following:

- ifconfig -a only lists the loopback interface.

- prtconf -D doesn't show any network device (no elx, etc).

- prtconf -pv doesn't seem to have thing that's an ethernet device (tip from j.keil in another forum).

- in the /dev directory there doesn't seem to be a file for elx* (or any other network driver I could think of - hmmm, am I looking for the wrong driver?)

- Looking in /boot/solaris/devicedb/master and /etc/driver_aliases everything seems to be in order - all the network drivers seems to be listed and then aliased.

- If I create the file /etc/hostname.elxl0 and try to reboot it complains about failing to plumb the IPv4 interface. I can't plumb any other network device by hand I can think of (tried: hme, ce, ge).

Can anybody suggest what to try to get the networking to work? Did we just miss something on the solaris install? Thanks.

Karl

We figured this one out. It turns out that Sun (The Network Is The Computer) doesn't include the ability to actually do networking for the Ultra 20 workstation in Solaris 10. You have to load the network driver (nge) off of the supplemental CD. Karl
