We'd like a bit more information, please, because Solaris 10 cannot be used on every SPARC-based system ever made by Sun.

Exactly which system is it?

What is the name on the front of the system?

Is it a workstation model or a server model?

Do you happen to have any information on the cpu speed?

Now, in addition to that, do you happen to have a directly connected Sun monitor, Sun keyboard and Sun mouse?

Once we have that initial information,

we may be able to point you toward getting an OS installed onto it.

Hello,

i have sun system enterpise 250, with sun moniter, sun key board and mouse. we have 45 sun thin clients terminals as workstation.

These thin clients (SunRay) require a server. Where is this server located (= who administrates this server) ?

I suggest that you get help from the admin of the SunRay server.

i m inserting disc in the cdrom, system boots up but not from cdrom, it boots from hard disk and ask for user name and password. i don't have this information.

That's true, the device (disk or network) the system is booting from is controlled by the setting boot-device. If auto-boot? is set to TRUE the system automatically starts from this device.

With a Sun keyboard attached, press shortly after power-up the keys STOP and A simultaneously. This gets you to the ok-prompt. Enter setenv auto-boot? false to disable automatic bootup from the harddisk. Next insert the CD Software 1 of 4 and enter boot cdrom.

Review the Solaris 10 Installation Guide for details.

i want to install that server who administrate these thin clients (SunRay), i have tried it and press stop key after turnning on systems power but that is check memory than boot from harddisk. In one try asks superuser (root) password for system administration but i have no password. it shows Ctrl + d to bypass but when i pressing it, it responding nothing. so what can i do now?

i have tried it and press stop key after turnning on systems power but that is check memory

You have to press STOP and A at the same time.

Please check the position of the key on the front of the system. Maybe you turned it in the LOCKED (6 o'clock)position. Turn it from OFF (9 o'clock) to 1 (12 o'clock).

This is link to the E250 page in the Sun System Handbook.

http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/E250/E250.html& lt;/a>

Please review at least the Sun Enterprise 250 Server Owner's Guide under Related Documentation.

A fast method to prevent the system from automatically booting is to remove the boot device.

Open the front door (while the system is powered down) and push the plastic (with the arrow) at the front of disk 0 (probably the boot disk) up and operate the handle to pull the disk until the their back has no contact to the back-plane. When you power-on, the system doesn't find the disk and you can get to the ok-prompt (STOP-A). Use the two settings in my first post.

Push the disk into place and close the handle. Enter reset. Now the system shouldn't try to automatically boot.
