Solaris 10 install problems with IBM T23 Thinkpad
Has anyone had problems installing Solaris 10 on an IBM Thinkpad T23. I tried installing it a few days back and it failed just past selecting the installation method (Interactive) with a kernel panic over problems with loading module for sockfs and something about problems finding symbols for sctp_connect, etc.. The error does not stay up long before it reboots.
This is a stock T23, with a reset to factory BIOS, and no PCMCIA card installed.
The hardware guide stated that the T23 installs OOB, but I find that is not the case.
Thanks in advance.

Boot the kernel with "kmdb" and you should be able to read the panic
messages. Dan Mick's blog explains the procedure:

I had similar issues which went away after updating both the BIOS and Embed' Controller firmware to the latest off IBM's site. Don't forget to get the firmware update for the Embedded Controller while you're at it. Was able to get the install to complete then. I then had issues with X not setting up video right, got tied up on other projects and never found the time yet to go back and fight with getting X right.
Good luck and post your results here.
