This forum
Does anyone know why :
1.So few replies are posted on this forum ? Loads of people look and hardly anyone replies. On the HP forum you get a reply almost immediately.
2. Should there not be a separate forum for General OS questions ? rather everyone posting under the banner of "Solaris Install from CD" ?
Of course, if my suspicions are correct, it would suggest that this posting will be treated with the same distance as many other are !!!

I do a lot of looking, just in case something useful crops up and menatally file it away just in case. I <i>try</i> and offer help where I can, and as soon as I can, but having a job means that I am limited to how long and when I access these fora.
I agree about the subject titles of the fora, and would also like to see a general OS forum. Considering the scattergun approach taken by a lot of people as to where they post though ... ;)

I seem to remember that the HP forum offers a point reward system, or it did 2 years ago when I used to use it. And people were categorised with different hats, eg wizard's hat or a mortar board or something. That meant that it got quite interesting for people who had a lot of points to keep answering questions. Most questions were answered by the same people, about half a dozen or them.

Hello Desiree,
on the Sun Developer Forums (<a href="http://forum.sun.com" target="_blank">http://forum.sun.com</a>) there is a reward too. It's called 'Duke Dollar'.
Key factors for getting an answer are:
- provide complete information (and what you have tried before posting)
- if further details are required, provide them
- if the issue is resolved, either with the help or by yourself, post a short note
These forums are only User-To-User. All contributors volunteer, nobody gets paid.
