Install bootblk or no

When I make a newfs on the root slice I do not know if

bootblock is overwrited or newfs command skips it, due

to I made a newfs on my root slice (/) and after that

restored a backup from a tape.

After doing this I could boot up without problems, that齭 the reason I do not know why on the handbooks puts that I must install

bootblock after doing all that.
