I do not anticipate a problem.

The Netra 20 is simply a Sunfire 280R in a NEBS compliant chassis.

The 501-xxxx part number is listed as the disk backplane for the 280R.

The 540-xxxx part number is the disk backplane for the Netra 20.

Both systems use what are essentially the same inner components.

Next, compare the chassis serial numbers of your two Netra systems.

The starting numerical characters give us the year and the week of manufacture.

What are those serial numbers ?

For example, if the first three digits are 149...

the system came from the factory in the 49th week of 2001.

If the first three digits are 312, then it was made in the 12th week of 2003.

Has either system EVER been serviced, where the backplane may have been replaced for some reason?

That might explain why the perfectly preferred part number isn't there. The repair may have used the 280R part because that is what was available.

Last --not only do the Netra systems share inner functional components with 280R's, but the systemboards, cpus, RAM are also used in SB1000 and SB2000 workstations.
