Error block in messages

Hello

We have a SUN Server connected to EMC Symetrix and the following are appearing in messages. The Server is patched to the latest Solaris 8, 117350-28

Jan 4 12:40:09 scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice]Requested Block: 14382976Error Block: 14382976

Jan 6 17:35:15 107833 kern.notice]Requested Block: 35728416Error Block: 35728416

Are these just failures to read a block on an attached disk device and what is the impact if any.?
