Locking Dump Terminal

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. I have one simple question. I have 8 SUN servers connected to a Black Box(Serial switch). And the black box connected to a single dump terminal. I can control all 8 servers with one terminal. Unfortunately, the black box got some problem needed to be reset.

Is there anyway or do I need to lock the server preventing it going to the OK prompt while resetting the black box? Can I do it via SSH/Telnet(because I can't use the dump terminal now) and how do it unlock it? Or do I have to unlock it?

Thanks everyone in advance!

To clarify what you are asking: You need to do some maintenance on your terminal server and you want to prevent the systems from going to the prom when the terminal server is switched off?

Yes? Put the keyswitch in the locked position.

You can find more in Sun Infodoc 21258.

Did you look at the infodoc I mentioned? What version of Solaris and what servers are you using?
