CPU Showing twice as Original Present

Hello Forum,

I have one SUN Fire 2900 server with 4 SPARC CPU's

The #psrinfo -v output showing as 8 CPU present in the system. but #prtdiag -v showing as 4 CPU. I understand these CPU's are dual cores, but is there is any way I can view the #psrinfo -v output as 4CPU's .

I am using a monitoring tool to view the server remotly and this tool keep alarming saying that only 4CPU's are working other 4CPU's showing error..

Is there is any way to get rid of this mismatch between psrinfo and prtdiag

Thanks in advance

You should probably update your monitoring software to a version that is UltraSparc IV aware. This will be an ongoing problem for you with newer platforms that have 4, 6 & 8 cores per CPU. Additionally, you must be running a minimum of Solaris 8 2/04, Solaris 9 4/04 or Solaris 10.

Does prtdiag -v show both cores on a single line?

/N0/SB0/P00,512

/N0/SB0/P11,513

/N0/SB0/P22,514

/N0/SB0/P33,515

or

/N0/SB2/P08,520

/N0/SB2/P19,521

/N0/SB2/P210,522

/N0/SB2/P311,523

or

/N0/SB4/P016,528

/N0/SB4/P117,529

/N0/SB4/P218,530

It sounds like your monitoring software is "counting" CPU lines in prtdiag and comparing that to psrinfo which would show all 8 devices.
