Left frame does not load.
Running SGD 4.2 on a Solaris 9 machine, loading from a TSOL 8 box.
The top login option just doesn't work, so I log in with the second option (log in/classic webtop).
On occasion (no common denominator) the items in the lefthand frame just don't load and Netscape locks up. Can't close the window, have to kill the process.
Rebooted the Sol 9 machine; no joy. Rebooted the TSOL box; no joy.
Rebooted both of them; everything works again.
Any ideas? Obviously this isn't going to work in a production environment...
Version of Netscape on the TSOL box is 4.76 and for various reasons can't be updated.

hello,
Netscape 4.76 is not a supported browser for SGD 4.2 but since it can't be changed... what version of the Java Plug-in do you use ? 1.4.2 and 1.5.0 are the supported versions. an alternative is to use the SGD native desktop client... or can you at least upgrade to Netscape 4.79?
the documentation also recommends that the JIT compiler is enabled (if not already enabled).
greetings,
Stoyan

I use the client that self-loaded the first time I clicked on the second login option.

Nope.

Runs fine most of the time as loaded default. Only errors I could find in /opt/tarantella/log had to do with display, which doesn't make sense since the main frame loads fine, just the left one that locks up. Odd.

Java version is 1.2.2 02 (although the console says 1.1.5). Interesting idea on the Java Console... I wonder though if it will lock up when the rest of Netscape does. If not, might be useful, but if it does it seems it will not help. From the options it gives me, I don't see anything that would let me trace as it runs (to let me see what happened just before it locked).
Looks like I might have to run a truss, which could be interesting since the lockups aren't predictable... <shrug>

Never mind... for info to those watching this, the Java Console is live... you don't have to tell it to watch, it just does if it's open.
