DOMAIN UNKOWN for clients

Whenever we receive email notification from an SRS NetConnect

client the domain listed in the email is always unkown:

Multiple Threshold Alarms on (darius.UNKNOWN.DOMAIN)

I suppose SUN is trying to resolve our internal domain on internet?

Is there somewhere we can set this on our SRSNetConnect client

so the notifications report the domain?

Thanks in advance...

Robert,

During the installation of SRS Net Connect, information about the host

system is gathered, including the host and domain names. The domain name

part is taken from the /etc/defaultdomain file. If at install-time, the

/etc/defaultdomain file does not exist, or is not populated, then

"UNKNOWN.DOMAIN" is substituted.

Currently, updating the /etc/defaultdomain file after an installation of

SRS Net Connect, will not correct the mis-assignment of system naming.

However a bug has been filed against this behaviour.

Until this bug is resolved, the only method of ensuring the correct

hostname is displayed at the SRS Net Connect Portal, is to uninstall SRS

Net Connect from the system, delete the affected host(s) from the Portal

interface, correctly populate the /etc/defaultdomain file, then reinstall

SRS Net Connect.

Paul Sneddon

What if you have uninstalled the SRS client software, deleted the system from the system group, and then re-installed the SRS client software? Will that confuse the system?

That's what I did and right now I can't get my system to re-appear in the group listing.

Hi, No, this should not confuse Net Connect as it tracks host by HostID. You will have to manually add the host back into the group however. Paul
