Netscape 7.0 on TSOL

Have a stupid question for anyone that can help.... I have installed Netscape 7.0 and do not have any problems using it. I have also installed Adobe Reader 7.0, again the application itself runs fine with no problems. The TSOL environment is very simple. Java 1.5.0.3 is loaded as well, (along side of the older versions of java). I link to older java on an as needed basis. the problem... When I run netscape and access a PDF via the web (within the browser (uses adobe plugin)) for the first time no problems... Every time I attempt to access a pdf after that the browser crashes. If I remove the appreg file under the $HOME/.mozilla directory it will work for the remainder of the current browser session but will not after. I have checked my permissions and all seems okay.. My linker paths (CRLE) are -l /usr/lib:/usr/lib/nsr:/usr/dt/lib:/usr/lib/security:/usr/jdk 1.5.0_3/jre/lib/sparc:/usr/jdk1.5.0_3/jre/lib/sparc/native_t hreads:/etc/lib:/usr/openwin/lib:/opt/sophos/lib:/opt/starof fice6. 0/program:/opt/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/Reader/sparsolaris/lib:/usr/ local/lib:/usr/sfw/lib

-s

/usr/lib/secure:/usr/sadm/lib/wbem:/user/snadm/lib:(same as -l above)

I have verified that this config does work under regular solaris.. I must be missing the obvious... Sorry for the inconvenience I just need a fresh look from someone else...

Found part of the problem... Seems to be the version of java loaded onto the system... Can anyone tell me what the latest stable/supported version of the JDK/J2SE that TSOL will run with. I understand that you can load anything but from what I understand there are dependencies from some TSOL applications that rely on java (SMC etc...) that I don't want to break...

I'm not sure if this is the latest " TSOL stable" but you could use j2se.1.4.2.07. It comes with SunRay 3.1 and seems to play well with others. Have you considered Firefox?

Looking into Firefox now... From the version Ive tried it still crashes on PDFs if I use any java build after 1.4.2_08-b03 (latest I could find).

JRE 5.0 seems to work well & does not disturb any dependancies with anything. You should be abe to rename the old files to %filename%.old & make a soft link in the old java directory to the folder of the new JRE 5.0
