SOLARIS PATCH MANAGER 2.0

Hi,

I'm currently working on a closed-end system ( several SunFire V240's) that are not allowed to be connected to the Internet. I want to ensure that my servers all have the latest applicable patches, so I decided to download and install PatchManager. However, when running the command "smpatch analyze" , I get a "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" . Is there a way to run this tool being independent of the Internet? Also, if this tool has to be used via the Internet, is there another way to verify appropriate patches are installed (Solaris 8 / Sun OS 5.8)? Thanks.

There is a problem with the Java used for patchmanager on some systems. Have a look at Sun BugID 6221832 "Java path hard coded in Patch Manager 2.0". Not sure if this is actually what is causing your problem but if it is there is a workaround for it.
