users, host, apps

Hi board,

I'm still quite new to SGD so I have some problems understand how to admin

things.

Following situation:

I have a tarantella server and several application servers. On each app

server are the same bundle of apps installed.

Now I would like to create user profiles able to see ONLY ONE of the app

servers.

This should not be that difficult, but I can figure out how to create

users, hosts and apps that if person A logs on apps from server A are

displayed and the same for person B with apps froom server B.

Any help?

(and yes, I studied the documentation for weeks already)

Sorry but I didn't get it clear.

I suppose you have ONE (1) Tarantella server and several application

servers available.

With ObjectManager you can create several Hosts object representing your

app servers (eg, apps1, apps2 and so on).

Then, you can create a given application object (graphical, character or

Windows) and give it a single app server.

As an example, you could creare Word1 and give it to apps1.

Next, you can duplicate the above (eg, Word2) and simply drag & drop the

apps2 server into the above object's [Hosts] tab.

Thus making, you'll make sure that Word1 will ONLY be executed on apps1,

Word2 on apps2 and what have you.

Last, you can create several profiles for incoming users and you can

give each user the application they need.

But I think it's so simple that perhaps I'm still far from getting it

clear :-)

Hi Rob,

thanx for the reply... it's really that simple - but it's not working :-(

My prob is that the person I create (and that I assigned the application)

can log in but can't see the application.... If I attache the "unix user

group" to the application person can log in and also see the application -

but with that group ANY user has any application - and that's not what I

need :-(

I created the person according to the documentation - maybe I've missed a

small detail

Do you have the user attribute set in the person object?
