setup/configuration
I've setup Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition to test and to demo my
company's management.
I've setup and able to login and administrate but I'm having problems using
and understanding the objects setup. Could anyone give me some step by step
instructions as to how to setup Secure Global Desktop to work with a
Terminal Services?
I've did everything here
http://www.tarantella.com/support/documentation/sgd/ee/4.0/help/en-us/wcp/getti ngstarted/terminal_server_config.html.
What else do I need to do to have define my webtop object for terminal
services session?
Thanks

First thanks for the help.
I did check the page.
It's a bit of a overload because it describes setup for all applications and
not just one example so I could compare to and build on.
I setup the host, links and seen by but couldn't get it working.
I'm a bit confused.
Is there a step by step instruction on setting up terminal services or just
a MS Word application?
Thanks

Something like the instructions "Set up a Home Secure Global Desktop
Enterprise Edition Remote Access Server"
http://www.tarantella.com/products/ee/homeEE.pdf for Terminal Services would
be great. It's very clear step by step instructions.

Hi.
Start by defining a new "Host" object which represents your Windows
2000/2003 server with Terminal Services enabled in Application Mode.
Next, create a new "Windows application" and specify the full pathname
of the application you want to access via SGDEE (eg.
c:\Windows\notepad.exe). The "Application Name" could be the "-"
(hyphen) to access the whole desktop.
While you're creating a new Windows app, on the left pane select the
"Host" tab and drag & drop the "Host" object you created during the
first step from the right pane (the "database") there.
Last, creare a user and drag & drop the icon which represents the
"Windows application" into the user's [Links] tab.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Rob

Hi,
Can you see the application icon on the webtop?
Are you getting any errors?
Could you give more details as to how you are seeing the problem?
Does the MS RDP client connect successfully to the TS?
Here are the basic steps:
- Create your host object for the TS. Ensure that the address is correct -
we
recommend DNS as opposed to ip-address.
- Create the windows application object:-
protocol - Windows TS
application command - full path to app or blank for full windows session
leave all other options as default
add the host in the Hosts tab and the complete the Seen by tab
Regards

Thanks Sue and Rob for your help.
I've got it working.
So simple now that know how to do it.
A side question; I setup MS Word on webtop but it asks for the windows
login and password everytime it starts. How could I set it up so it
matches my secure global desktop login with my windows domain login?
Thanks a million everyone.

With 4.0 Tarantella introduced a wizard to make this easy.
Log in as an administrator, (e.g. root) and click on the Configuration
Wizard that is on your webtop.
You'll need to create a Server object and a Windows application object
that runs on that server.

You need to configure the WTS according to the Admin Guide:
http://www.tarantella.com/support/documentation/sgd/ee/4.0/help/en-us/wcp/getti ngstarted/terminal_server_config.html

Thanks David,
I've already looked at that and have done all the configuration on
terminal server.
If I don't need to do more then :
1) If I create a new user; I do not see a option to change passwords
does it mean I have to create a new user on the server that I have
Secure Global Desktop installed?
2) After login to Secure Global Desktop and login to a application; it
will cache(save) my password and next time I would not need to reenter a
password?
Thanks all.

This is only true if you use the Unix user/group authentication (or
"login auhtorities"). This is a good starting point:
http://www.tarantella.com/support/documentation/sgd/ee/4.0/help/en-us/base/stan dard/login_authorities.html
If you need to know more about creating users:
http://www.tarantella.com/support/documentation/sgd/ee/4.0/help/en-us/base/gett ingstarted/person.html

Yes (and this is the default behaviour); you have the ability to change
it according to your own needs.
Cheers,
Rob

Great, that cleared everything up for me. Groups are wonderful.
I have everything I need for my setup.
Hope we purchase and use this product. Looks very good to me.
Thanks everyone for the help.
