Portal Server 2005q4 JDK support

Hello,

we are testing the Portal for our client, who has already some applications developed with JDK 1.4; these apps are NOT compatible with JDK 1.5 which is installed with JES 4 (we use the Application Server 8.1_02 provided with JES 4).

Is there any way to use JDK 1.4 with PS2005q4? How? Or does he need to upgrade his apps to work with JDK 1.5?

Could you please explain how can I run different apps in different web containers and display them together on one portal desktop (I know about WSRP but that's not the case)? I thought it was impossible..?
