Portal Desktop Conflict Resolution Level

I encountered this problem in Portal 6.3.

If at least one of the User's Roles does not have the Portal Desktop Confict Resolution Level set to Highest the user gets this error:

"You do not have permission to access the desktop"

For example: If the org level is set to LOW and Role-A is set to Medium and Role-B is set to High this user will get the error. If I set either Role-A or Role-B to Highest then the portal renders OK.

When the user is getting the error, I examined their profile and found that "Default Channel Name", "Default Edit Channel Name", and "Portal Desktop Type" were all blank. These all have values at the org and role levels so the user should have inherited them but the inheritance is apparently broken. If I set one of the role's Conflict Resolution Levels to Highest then the inheritance works.

Is it suppose to work this way? Is there a setting to fix this or a workaround?

I need the roles to be able to override the "Portal Desktop Type" based on a precendence order.

This is all working correctly in our Portal 6.0 installation but doesn't work in 6.3.

Hmm, maybe you hit Bug 6255780.

Please try to set the nsslapd-pluginarg0 attribute of the "Class of Service" Plugin to 1 and restart the directory server.

Please note that this is just a workaround. For a patch you have to contact Sun Support (probably there is none at the moment)
