This is not usual. Maybe the installer went corrupted during download or there is an error on your storage unit.
BTW, do you have the correct J2SDK? It should be version 1.3.1_01. and higher.

I am having the exact same problem and it is driving me crazy - I've tried it having 1.3.1 already installed, I've removed everything including registry keys, tried the separate installer, manually extracted the jar file and ran the installer ... it gets to a certain point and all that is left is the "java" process. Any help would be greatly appreciated -- I shouldn't have to format my hard drive to run this program...

I have downloaded the Forte for Java 4.0 installer for many times already, and the download finished completely. The problems still persist. The version of J2SDK that I am using is 1.4.0. I believe that the distribution has some problems with it, but still I don't know what.
