tooldesigner question

I'm trying to get the tooldesigner to work.

I'm using the doc at this url: http://forte.sun.com/ffj/documentation/tooldesigner.pdf

In Chapter 2, p11, the doc states:

To create a tool you use the File menu or the context menu for a folder node in the Filesystems explorer and select New | Tool Designer.

I'm using the Forte For Java Community Edition (build 020521)

on Windows 2000. This menu option does not exist!

Any suggestions?

Erik,

Just wondering if you have downloaded and installed the ToolDesigner

module? It is a preview module available from the update center.

Thanks.

That sounds like the type of thing I need to do. I selected Tools / Update Center. In the 'Preview' node of the tree, I found the following two entries:

Forte Application Scalability Tools

SIM Bugsubmitter 2.0

... but no 'Tool Designer'. I included 'alpha' and 'beta' modules in the tree. I didn't see anything elsewhere in the tree that looked like 'tool designer'.

Erik,

Are you connecting to the Netbeans Update Center or to the Forte/SunOne

Update Center? I believe the ToolDesigner is available only from the

latter, but I don't know for certain...

Bob, thanks for following up. I have looked in both places to no avail.

Hm? That's odd, especially given what they say at

http://forte.sun.com/eap/tooldesigner-preview.html.

System Requirements for Tool Designer:

Sun ONE Studio 3.0 installed and running.

Note: This module will not work on other versions of Sun ONE Studio

Tool Designer won't be available for technical preview until it's updated to work with Sun ONE Studio 4.

Where can I download 3.0? It seems that all links

lead to 4.0? I found the update for 3.0

at this link: http://access1.sun.com/sundev/jde/disclaimer.cgi?112193-03u33

However, I don't know what to do with all these nbm files.
