gcc on JDS?

I need to get gcc installed on JDS. I do not find cc or gcc on my JDS system so how do I build gcc without a compiler? Basically I need help getting gcc working on my JDS system.
)Launch->Applications->System Tools->Install/Remove Software3) Enter the root password4) Select "Development Tools" and Accept. It should ask for the appropriate install CD and install the development packages needed for gcc.I think thats where they are.
