Boot from external CD drive using floppy

As I have a windows laptop with just an external USB CD drive I am trying to create a boot disk and modules disks to start the install process from floppy. From the distributed docs (i.e. reame) it appears this should be possible.

From the readme docs and various other non-Sun forums I have ascertained I should be using the utility supplied on CD1 called rawwritewin.exe. This utility asks me which '.img' file I want to write to the floppy. From other forums it looks like I want 'cdrom.img'.

This is where I get into trouble. CD1 does not seem to contain the expected images directory or any '.img' files.

I guess my question comes in two parts,

1) Should I be able to install the JDS with the 'boot from CD using floppy' technique, and if so,

2) How do I do it with the JDS?

Thanks for your help.

Yes it is possible to make a boot floppy for Sun's Java Desktop System. The path for rawwritewin.exe should be: \boot\bootdisk on the first CD. So if your CDROM drive letter is D:, then use D:\boot=bootdisk
