Project Looking Glass alpha/beta test availability

Now that the JDS desktop system is shipping, will having the rights to update JDS through Sun's services product also include an option to add-on pre-release versions of Project Looking Glass, provided that no warranty be issued? Any thoughts?

I would also like to be able to check out this 3D windowing desktop for myself, if anyone has any additional information. There have been other attempts to do this, for instance 3dwm window manager, but from the looks of the demo videos Looking Glass seems to be much farther along in terms of usability. There is a mailing list, project_looking_glass@sun.com, but no activity yet.

Stephen,Thank you for your question. Early development versions of Looking Glass are not currently intended for deployment outside of Sun via the JDS update mechanism.

Hello, Support

OK I bought JDS, just for looking glass alone I thought was part of JDS already. I develop and wanted to step out of my MS Programming enviroment world(work)and into progamming world of JAVA. Plannng on making a few new 3D concept program's in JAVA for Looking Glass. How can I do much of anything without Looking Glass Desktop to preview my idea's how Looking Glass behaves.

I like to know ALPHA/BETA testing USE/AS IS bug reporting will start...

Betas and developer alphas are not available at this time. But you might find it useful to download the Java3D API and read the documentation here: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/3D/We do appreciate your interest.

Project Looking Glass has been released using an Open Source license: https://lg3d.dev.java.net/.Project LG *is* a 3D desktop, so I belive it cannot be used with another one.-Alexis
