Hi Dan,
Are you still unable to install the IDE?
If so, can you tell me exactly what the problems is. How far does the installation go? At what point does it hang?
Also, it would be helpful if you can tell me what version of JDK you're using and what version of IDE you're trying to install as well as any error msgs, if any.
Regards,
christina
Thank You Christina. The IDE seems to install well under W2K. But not under RedHat without pain and suffering. Different issue.
No, the problem was that the ee version was simply hanging my system. I had started a project. And had been working on it for a day or two. Then It looked like the IDE hung. I rebooted. The IDE was still not responding (as in it would not get past the splash screen). After several more reboots etc. I uninstalled ee and went back to ce. Now it is all singing all dancing.
If the only difference between the two versions is support for EJB then I think I can live with ce.
I have since read the documentation on the NetBeans site, and the IDE makes a lot more sense now. I no longer feel like throwing in the towel on this product and I feel like maybe I can recommend it as a corporate standard IDE for our developers. Although I still need more time on it.
Best Regards,
Dan
Hi Dan,
Well I'm glad that you were able to get CE up and running. However, I hope you haven't given up on EE completely. :)
From what you've mentioned, I have come across a couple of bugs which could possibly be what you had encountered. They involve the IDE hanging due to a change or switch in projects. It's most common on Windows but has occured on Linux as well.
I'm not sure if this is the exact problem you were experiencing but if it is, it is currently being addressed.
