Help window throws NullPointerException and ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException

I bring up the Help window, go to Search mode, type in "help window" (with the double quotes), and get a nice dump (ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException).

Also, while moving around the help system, after a few clicks of the mouse, I get NullPointerException.

These problems existed 18 months ago when I tried this product. Why are they still around?

Is there some way to configure this product so it's stable?

Hmm, tried this with Studio 4, update 1 on NT, and didn't get this error. What is the platform?

I had just download Studio 4 Update1 (Nov 3rd), running on Win2K SP2 (dual processor Dell, P3 1Ghz each CPU).

Tons of memory (1Gb) and disk (100+Gb).

What's frustrating is that I had to give up on using Forte 18 months ago for the very seem reason. I was hoping that by now these kinds of basic usability errors had been fixed.

By the way, I'm using JDK 1.3.1_03, since that's what all of my target apps use.

You might find the following interesting:

If you switch to a single processor PC you might have more luck. I can't reproduce your problem on my single processor Win2K SP3 PC running Studio 4 update 1 and JDK 1.3.1_04.

Thanks Mark. It looks like the NetBean stuff is not production quality code. Why release a product that isn't capable of running on multi-processor computers? For crying out loud, we're in the 21st century now. C'mon Sun!
