UNIX mbox import question

Hey all. I've got a questions about what happens when you use the imsimport.sh script to import messages from a UNIX mbox format into the message store. I know normally, when a new message gets delivered one copy is placed in the store with links to it for the users who it was sent to.

Is this what happens during import? Is there only one copy of each message saved with links to it in the store or since it's an import is each user message saved individually, regardless of the fact it was sent out as a mass mailing.
