Authenticated STMP relay from External Network
Hi,
I am using iMS 5.1 on a win2k.
My setup is like a text book setup. The internal mails on my LAN for mydomain.com does not need any authentication.
When a user sends a mail to any other global domain say yahoo.com or hotmail.com, he first gets authenticated for relaying. This works fine.
Now when a user tries to use the server as a relay coming from an external network (authentication intended), he gets relaying denied message.
why is my server differetiating the relay feature depending on the network. If the user needs smtp authentication to relay mails from my internal network, he can might as well use the same feature on the external network.
My server is behind a firewall and has a local LAN ip. It is accessible from the outside(Internet)through static ip mapping too.
I am really stuck up here. I need my users to use the relay feature from their home too as they do at office.
Where are things going wrong?
Please help as I am stuck.
Thanks and Regards,
Sanvir Jham
