what does this line do : *|*|*|*|* $C$|INTERNAL_IP;$3|$Y$E

this line is the standard in the port_access mapping

but i do not understand what it exactly does, because even without it, the output of "imsimta test -mapping" is strictly the same

i also dont quite understand what the last line does :

* $YEXTERNAL

i didn't find anything in documentation about the default config. what i understand is that it tries to do a lookup of the ip address of the sender host ($3) in the table internal_ip, but what for ?

Thanks

For checking if the sender is allowed to relay mail externally.

You must enter an address IP when doing imsimta test -mapping so it will check if Y or N you are known as an internal sender.

If you're sending from an IP that is not known as Internal, you'll be able to reach people from the domains you host, but not to send mail to others. (you'd be open relay if you could... bad :-) )
