httpd crashes

running iMS 5.2 on Solaris 9. About once a week, Messenger express process will exit and I have to go in and restart it. Does anyone have any ideas what may cause this or where to look to get an idea? I know that there were some issues in 5.1 that sp1 fixed relating to httpd exiting. I

appreciate any pointers.

Thanks for the pointer but the file wasn't there. I seen a note that files only last 2 days there. Sun must have pulled it already.Hopefully some other answer will present itself. It crashed 4 times in 20 minutes yesterday (friday) afternoon.

We experienced httpd crashes but our's were really bad and about every 6 hours. We were told that there were some possible issues with Messenger Express running on multiple processor machines. This seemed to make some sense because it never crashed on our single process test box but it did on the two-processor production box. We were given a new still untested mshttpd and around 8 other .so library files that we replaced and httpd has not gone down in 60 hours straight. It was a pretty straightforward fix. Just stop the messaging server, backup the files and replace them with the new ones.

In addition to what everyone else has already said. Experience tells me this is due to a bug in shared lib, not mshttpd directly. You'll want to do the following on your message store.

./configutil -o local.ldapconnectionload -v 1

Please contact TS to obtain the latest hotfix bundle. The out-of-the-box versions will not see this parameter, I believe.

Where can I find this hotfix it isn't at the ftp address you said:ftp://supportfiles.sun.com/iplanetdownloads/deeranp/msg-5.2p0.8-domestic-optimi ze-sparc-sun-solaris2.6-patch.tar.gz

I found a few versions here:

ftp://supportfiles.sun.com/iplanetdownloads/jplesset/

I am concerned about these hotfixes because I was told that since they are not official service packs they do not recieve QA. Also, if you apply one of these (note that the versions are above 1) then you can not apply the first official service pack afterwards since you would be de-reving your software...

Mark,

You are correct the hotfix _bundles_ do not go through the full Q&A process, but on the other hand I believe they do go through some basic tests.

Recent hofix bundles for iMS 5.1 will make the code more up-to-date than iMS 5.1p1. I do not recall which hotfix bundles are more current than patch release 1, but I am assuming that in the Readme with the hotfix bundle it will state if it is newer than the patch release.

Regards,

Chad
