Creating resource calendars

Hi,

Why does the admin guide say that resource calendars have to be created using csresource - why can't a user create a calendar for a resource and then allocate permissions? I guess the question is - aprt from LDAP entries - what's the difference between a calendar created using the iCS interface and those created using csresource ?

Cheers - Steve

As far as I can tell, internally a calendar is a calendar. However when a user creates a calendar, it's associated with his name. The main calendar is user, new calendars are user:cal1 and user:cal2. They don't get separate LDAP entries. A resource calendar is one that is "standalone", i.e. its name isn't associated with a user's, and it has its own LDAP entry.

Another reason is that a resource calendar, created with csresource, will allow you to flag double-booking, where as a calendar created by a user will not. Also, when a search is done for calendars, a resource calendar will be symbolized by an icon.Cheers.

Talking out of my a!! that last post. You can flag user calendars to disallow double-booking. But the search icon still stands.Sorry.
