Applying HP5 on the Gateway iPS 3.0 SP2

For iPS 3.0 SP2, we installed Hot Patch 5 of portal server but the Hot patch was successfully installed on the portal Server component but not on the portal gateway. After applying HP5 on the Gateway, I

couldn't start it. When I backed out the patch it worked right away. I ran "./ippsgateway start debug" and I got the following error

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:

com/iplanet/portalserver/gateway/connectionhandler/Login

Why this is happening?
