How do I solve a netlet proxy settings problem?

My user is getting the following message from the netlet:

"Netlet was unable to determine your browser proxy settings. If your browser preferences are set to use automatic proxy configurations, set the security proxy in your browser proxy configuration. Restart your browser, see your network administrator for proxy settings."

The user is using IE 5.5 on Windows 98.

The 3.0 admin guide (on page 207) talks about how to solve this for Netscape browsers but doesn't describe how to resolve it for IE browsers.

I believe this user is using a Verizon DSL connection, but I could be mistaken. I don't offhand know whether Verizon requires use of a proxy or not.

This is because of browser settings. If u use proxy server in your LAN, do the following settings..

1. In IE, click on Tools --> InternetOption --> Connections --> LANSettings .

2. Enable Use automatic configuration script and enter the seetings for proxy.

3.In proxy server settings, enable Bypass proxy server for local addresses and enable use proxy(leave address and port fields empty)

This will solve your problem.

If you don't use any proxy server in LAN then,

1. In IE, Click on Tools --> InternetOption --> Connections --> LANSettings.

2.Disable all fields.

The proxy issue your seeing has got nothing do with netlet proxy. It looks like the browser has proxy configured. The netlet does not work with proxies till you go to sp3a and apply patches on top of it. HTH ..
