portal server profile server synchronization

How to achieve profile server synchronization if i have 2 machines, each machine is installed server, gateway and profile components.Which means these 2 machines are having the same components. The reason profile server is installed in both of these machines is to avoid if one of the machine fails, incoming requests can still be directed to the 2nd profile server. But then, in this multiple server clustering environment with 2 profile servers installed in 2 physical machines, how to achieve synchronization between 2 profile servers? Anyone out there have any idea how to implement that? :)
