How to use Authentication aliases?

Most authentication modules have a attribute named "<authentication module> user aliases".

I can't find anything about that in the documentation.

We have a Portal domain with LDAP and SecurID authentication, but the UserID's in each authentication module are different.

We wish to create a "alias", so the users aren't required to rembember two distinct ID's.

Is this the attribute we need?

What is the syntax to set an alias?
