iMS 5.1 need help

Good afternoon!

Sorry for my bad english.

We use iPlanet Messaging Server 5.1 under Solaris 8.

We have our class C ip network, in /imta/config/mappings in INTERNAL_IP block we set value

$(192.168.1.0/24) $Y

Anyone from different network can't send messages because relaying is not allowed. We need if anyone (from different network) try to send the message from mail address, for example, user@ftcenter.ru (ftcenter.ru is our domain), and LDAP has entry for user@ftcenter.ru relaying for this user is allowed. Need only direct LDAP user check, not per-user filter, because we have too much users and hosted domains and is too difficult for manualy entry each filter . Is it possible? How we solve this problem?

With best regards,

Peter.

I'm no expert, but it seems like what you need to use is authenticated smtp, where the user must enter their password prior to sending a message. This will allow sending from any ip address to your server so long as the user has authenticated.
